Ukraine expects the peak of COVID-19 cases in mid-December, said Chief State Sanitary Doctor and Deputy Minister of Health Igor Kuzin.
"Starting in January, the flu virus and SARS-CoV-2 will begin to circulate. We will gradually observe this pattern of transition from one virus to another. And so far, as of today, we are recording that the vast majority of cases of coronavirus infection are registered in our country, there are more of them," said Kuzin.
According to expert forecasts, about 4,000 coronavirus patients will be hospitalized every week.
The predicted peak will last until January 2024, after which the incidence will begin to decrease. Kuzin also emphasized that starting from January, the influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 will actively circulate, and there will be a gradual transition from one virus to another. It is noted that 1.3 million Ukrainians have already fallen ill with respiratory diseases during the epidemic season.
