COVID-19 incidence is predicted to increase in Ukraine

Deputy Minister of Health Igor Kuzin reported on the expected increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine in August-September. According to him, 10 subtypes of coronavirus are currently circulating in Ukraine.

It is predicted that most likely in August we will observe an increase and the same increase will continue until September inclusive. In September, the so-called epidemic season of SARS and influenza will begin. Usually we are gradually approaching the point that in September and October we will begin to see the first manifestations of the circulation of other respiratory viruses. Other respiratory viruses they sufficiently limit the circulation of COVID-19, because it never happens that 3 or 4-5 different respiratory viruses circulate

– said Cousin.

Summing up, he noted that most likely during August-September, an increase in the incidence rate will be registered in Ukraine.

Also, according to forecasts, it should not exceed the indicators of the inter-epidemic period, that is, it should not lead to the introduction of anti-epidemic measures

– said Kuzin.

He also said that in Ukraine over the past month, just over 2,500 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and noted that these are the lowest figures in the summer months and since the beginning of the year.

Every year we observe that in March-May, and even in June, the vaccination rate is maintained at 8-10 thousand. July and August are the calmest months for the population, when the number of applications is very low

– said Cousin.

Kuzin reported that Ukraine has over 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Kuzin also stated that there are no risks of introducing local quarantines or restrictive measures due to COVID-19 in Ukraine yet.

Kuzin reported that at least 10 different subtypes of coronavirus are circulating in Ukraine, including the FLiRT strain, which was first registered in the world in March of this year. The number of diseases has increased in the country over the past month, but there are no predictions of an epidemic yet.
