Customs officers found 570 thousand worth of electronic cigarettes and half a million worth of new iPhones at the border with Poland

At the Krakivets-Korchova checkpoint, customs officers prevented two attempts to illegally move goods across the state border.

During the inspection of a Mercedes minibus, driven by a 34-year-old resident of Chortkiv, law enforcement officers discovered six boxes of VUSE electronic cigarettes. In total, the man tried to transport 1,440 electronic cigarettes hidden in a niche under the seats and disguised with bags and suitcases. The estimated value of the discovered consignment is almost 570 thousand hryvnias. A report was drawn up on the fact of the violation under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, and a report was also sent to the TU BEB of the Lviv region.

On the same day, customs officers in Krakow checked a regular bus on the “Legnytsia–Chernivtsi” route. In the luggage compartment and in the cabin, among the passengers’ belongings, they found six new iPhone 17 Pro Max mobile phones. A 34-year-old resident of Chernivtsi tried to import the equipment worth about 500 thousand hryvnias. A report was drawn up against him under Part 2 of Art. 471 of the Criminal Code.

Further checks are currently underway.
