In the pre-holiday period, potato prices in Ukraine continue to rise rapidly, reaching 22-30 hryvnias per kilogram. According to the analysts of the EastFruit project, in the last week alone, farmers have increased their selling prices by almost 22%, and in general, potatoes have become more expensive by 85% compared to last year.
The main reasons for this sharp growth were several factors. First, a severe drought this summer significantly reduced the potato harvest in Ukraine, which led to a decrease in production and market supply. Secondly, the demand for potatoes increased due to preparations for the New Year holidays, when wholesale companies and retail chains actively purchase the product.
Despite the fact that some experts do not expect a sharp increase in the price of potatoes in the coming weeks, it is worth noting that prices for this product will remain at a much higher level than last year. This will further increase the cost of the New Year's table, which, according to forecasts, may increase in price by 15-17%.
