At the beginning of 2025, Ukraine has seen an increase in prices for certain categories of fruit, in particular apples and grapes. According to the Ministry of Finance portal, as of January 7, grapes had risen in price by a significant 21% compared to December 2024.
Price dynamics
- Grapes : the average price increased from 206.11 UAH/kg in December to 249.08 UAH/kg in early January.
- Apples : the average monthly price rose from 34.25 UAH/kg to 34.63 UAH/kg.
Although the increase in apple prices is less noticeable, the upward trend is causing concern among consumers.
Forecasts of experts
Oleg Pendzin, a member of the Economic Discussion Club, predicts a further increase in food prices. The main reasons are inflation, increased production costs, and fluctuations in the raw materials market.
- Vegetables : prices may increase by 30-50%.
- Eggs : prices will increase due to the high cost of feed.
- Meat : price increase will be limited to 2-5% due to reduced demand.
- Bread and dairy products : prices are expected to increase by 10-15%.
Gas tariffs as a catalyst
Oleg Popenko, head of the Union of Consumers of Public Utilities, added that the increase in gas transportation tariffs will lead to an increase in prices for almost all categories of goods. According to him, in the first half of the year, we should expect a 20% increase in prices against the background of rising production costs.
