Prices for apples and grapes have changed: what is happening on the fruit market

At the beginning of 2025, Ukraine will see an increase in prices for certain categories of fruits, in particular for apples and grapes. According to the Ministry of Finance portal, as of January 7, the price of grapes rose by a significant 21% compared to December 2024.

Price dynamics

  • Grapes : the average price increased from UAH 206.11/kg in December to UAH 249.08/kg at the beginning of January.
  • Apples : the average monthly price rose from UAH 34.25/kg to UAH 34.63/kg.

Although the increase in the price of apples is less visible, the upward trend is causing concern among consumers.

Forecasts of experts

Oleg Pendzyn, a member of the Economic Discussion Club, predicts a further rise in food prices. The main reasons are inflation, increased production costs and fluctuations in the raw material market.

  • Vegetables : may increase in price by 30-50%.
  • Eggs : prices will increase due to the high cost of feed.
  • Meat : the price increase will be limited to 2-5% due to a decrease in demand.
  • Bread and dairy products : price increases of 10-15% are predicted.

Gas tariffs as a catalyst

Oleg Popenko, head of the Union of Utilities Consumers, added that the increase in tariffs for gas transportation will cause price increases for almost all categories of goods. According to him, in the first half of the year, we should expect a 20% increase in prices against the background of rising production costs.
