In February 2025, meat prices in Ukraine continued to rise, in particular, beef and pork became more expensive. According to the Ministry of Finance, the consumer price index for meat products in February 2025 was 101.45%, which is 1.45% more than in January. However, although the cost of chicken remained stable, experts warn that the situation can change due to the rise in price of feed.
In 2025, meat went up by an average of 7-22%, depending on the category. For example, the price of chicken thigh increased by 7%, and for beef goulash - by 22%. In January this year alone, meat products went up by 2-7%.
Experts note that the rise in meat prices has several reasons. The Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club explains that war and economic instability affect all stages of production: from keeping cattle to meat processing. Beef is more expensive due to the reduction of livestock and increasing the cost of cuttings at processing enterprises. Pork has also become more expensive due to supply interruptions, as many manufacturers are located near the front line.
Economist Oleg Penzin notes that in war, many farms are forced to reduce production, which can cause further rising prices and a shortage of quality products on the market.
Although chicken supply remains stable, the cost of this meat product can also increase due to increased electricity and feed prices. This means that consumers can face a new rolling of meat products in the coming months.
