Today, December 19, 2024, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) conducted investigative actions in the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Poltava region. As it became known unofficially, these searches are related to a criminal case regarding the theft of fuel and lubricants . There are currently no official reports on the results of the actions, but the case is of serious interest in connection with previous investigations in this area.
Background to the fuel theft case
This is not the first time an investigation has been conducted on similar charges. In November 2019, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) had already conducted searches in a similar case involving the forgery of fuel coupons for the Poltava battalion and the embezzlement of public funds. As part of this investigation, Olena Holovko , an employee of the Poltava regional police, was suspected of forging documents and embezzling UAH 530,000 of public funds.
In 2020, the Moskovsky District Court of Kharkiv placed house arrest , accused of organizing these violations. However, the investigation into the case was suspended due to problems with the examination of the investigation materials, raising additional questions about the effectiveness of justice in this case.
The situation today
Currently, SBI investigators continue their work within the criminal case, revealing new aspects of possible abuses. As it became known, searches at the Poltava Oblast Main Police Department may become a new stage in the investigation into fuel theft, which has repeatedly become the subject of inspections by law enforcement officers in the region.
The topic of fuel and lubricant theft in police agencies remains relevant, and continued investigative actions may lead to new accusations and the discovery of new facts of abuse.
