The State Bureau of Investigation has filed a case against officials who supplied the troops with defective weapons unsuitable for combat use, the SBI press service reported.
According to the investigation, officials organized a scheme in which, instead of high-quality weapons, the Ukrainian military received cheap analogues that did not meet technical requirements. Moreover, the delivery turned out to be incomplete - the army received only half of the declared number of machine guns.
In particular, out of 400 weapons, only 200 were received. All of them had no markings, technical documentation, or certificates of conformity. When used at the front, the machine guns could not conduct continuous fire - after several shots they would fail due to the destruction of parts and mechanisms.
It was established that this weapon was manufactured by one of the foreign companies. However, Ukrainian officials did not sign a contract directly with the manufacturer, but used the services of an intermediary, overpaying up to 40% of the real cost.
The State Bureau of Investigation emphasizes that such actions not only caused significant losses to the state, but also created a risk to the lives of Ukrainian military personnel on the front lines. If found guilty, the officials face imprisonment.
