A trial will begin in Kyiv against the head of the garrison military medical commission of the State Border Guard Service, who, according to investigators, transferred soldiers from the front line to rear units for money. The State Bureau of Investigation reports.
The investigation established that the official organized a scheme to receive bribes from servicemen who were undergoing medical examinations. For $2,000, the colonel of the medical service ensured that decisions were made to recognize servicemen as limitedly fit for service, grant them leave due to health conditions, or refer them for treatment without medical indications.
In some cases, the commission's conclusions were drawn up even without the presence of the serviceman.
In May 2025, SBI officers caught an official receiving another illegal benefit, detained him, and reported him to the police. During searches of his office, medical documentation with signs of fictitiousness was seized.
The defendant is charged with three episodes of receiving an unlawful benefit by an official holding a responsible position, as well as drawing up a knowingly false official document (Part 3 of Article 368, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation into other possible participants in the illegal scheme is ongoing.
