The State Bureau of Investigation has referred the case of the former secretary of the Kyiv City Council to court: the former official faces up to 10 years in prison

The State Bureau of Investigation has completed criminal proceedings against former Deputy Mayor of Kyiv and Secretary of the City Council Volodymyr Bondarenko, who helped a fellow official evade military service. The case has been referred to court for consideration.

According to the investigation, in 2022-2023, the former secretary illegally paid the salary of the head of the Kyiv City Council Secretariat, who was supposed to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The former official sent a letter to the Kyiv City State Administration with a request to "second" a military man to the City Council, although the structure of the City Council does not provide for positions for military personnel.

As a result, the subordinate did not arrive at the military unit and did not serve, but received funds from the budget - the total amount was over 690 thousand hryvnias. The former secretary is accused of official negligence and aiding and abetting evasion of military service during martial law.

He currently faces up to 10 years in prison. The trial is ongoing, and law enforcement officers continue to document all the circumstances of the case.
