The State Bureau of Investigation has reported suspicion to one of the deputies of the Chief of the Main Department of the State Geocadastre in Volyn Oblast. He is suspected of illegally transferring the lands of the nature reserve fund to private property, which led to multimillion-dollar losses for the state.
We are talking about three land plots located within the landscape reserve "Gnidavsky swamps", near the central part of Lutsk. These territories have a conservation status and are intended to preserve rare flora and fauna. For four years, the official has signed three illegal orders, resulting in more than 4 hectares of security land.
The recipients of the plots were residents of Lviv region - persons from the close environment of the official, including his relatives and friends. Subsequently, these allotments were resold, and one of the buyers - a serviceman - purchased the site, not knowing about its illegal origin. Thus, he actually became a victim of fraud.
DBR estimates the damage caused to the state of more than UAH 6.3 million. Measures are currently underway to return the plots to state property and the establishment of other persons who may be involved in the scheme.
The official is charged with abuse of power or office, which caused grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation is ongoing.
