Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have declared suspicion on three individuals who illegally smuggled People's Deputy Artem Dmytruk across the state border of Ukraine to the unrecognized Transnistria. The SBI press service has released information about this.
According to law enforcement officials, as a result of a thorough investigation, including questioning witnesses, analyzing voice and Internet connections of mobile operators, and studying traffic routes, it was possible to establish the details of the smuggling operation.
On August 23, Dmytruk illegally crossed the state border towards Moldova through the Pavlivka checkpoint in the area of responsibility of the Velyka Komarivka border service department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The organizers of the crossing carefully planned the “operation”, including several stages of the deputy’s movement.
According to the investigation, Artem Dmytruk left Kyiv at about 1:00 in the afternoon in a car driven by another person. With the help of video surveillance on the Kyiv-Odesa highway, interrogation of the driver and working out operational versions, it became known that the deputy left the car on the highway near the settlement of Rozdilnyanskyi district of the Odessa region. At about 5:00 in the evening, he changed into another car, which took him to the border. After that, he illegally left Ukraine on foot.
The State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that all participants in the operation, including the organizer of the scheme, have been identified. The organizer has a wide range of connections both among law enforcement officers and in criminal circles. According to operational data, this group was involved in the systematic illegal smuggling of people across the state border.
The day after the transfer, the organizer and one of the suspects fled to the Transnistrian part of Moldova.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has reported suspicions to three participants in the illegal smuggling of persons across the state border under Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Two suspects have been charged in absentia, and one person involved has been detained. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is currently being resolved.
