The territorial department of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in Poltava has started criminal proceedings against 28 commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are accused of negligence, which led to the seizure of ten villages in the Kharkiv region by Russian troops. The investigation includes the seizure of a number of secret military documents.
According to the pre-trial investigation, on May 10, 2024, in the area of the settlements of Strilka, Krasne, Borysivka, Pylne of the Kharkiv district and Gatishche of the Chuguyiv region, as well as other settlements of the Kharkiv region (along the line of the state border of Ukraine with the Russian Federation) during the assault actions of the Russian army took place the facts of the abandonment of combat positions by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are units numbering one company, which were part of the first echelon of defense. As a result of this extraordinary situation, the Russian offensive had to be repulsed by the forces of the second echelon of defense.
According to the investigation, the command of the 125th brigade and its subordinate units, including 415 separate rifle battalions, 23 mechanized brigades, and 172 separate rifle battalions, allegedly did not properly organize the defense of positions on the border of the Kharkiv region and the Russian Federation, which led to the loss of military equipment and personnel . In total, the files contain the names of 28 servicemen (commander of the operational-tactical group, brigade commander, battalion commanders, company commanders, head of the intelligence department of the headquarters), whose involvement is being checked by the SBI.
