Volodymyr Lytvyn was born in Zhytomyr region in 1956, he is now 68 years old. He has been in Ukrainian politics since the beginning of the 2000s, becoming a People's Deputy for four convocations. He also served twice as speaker of the Verkhovna Rada — from May 2002 to May 2006 and from December 2008 to December 2012. In addition, Lytvyn ran several times for the presidency of Ukraine, but was never elected.
On January 16, 2014, Volodymyr Lytvyn was among those who voted for "dictatorial laws", but later asked to consider his vote invalid. Then he supported the Resolution on the condemnation of the use of violence, which led to the death of peaceful citizens of Ukraine, and also supported the Resolution on the self-removal of the President of Ukraine from the exercise of constitutional powers.
Lytvyn is known for his scandalous statements about relations with Russia and the European Union. In September 2016, the mass media published the so-called "thoughts out loud" of Lytvyn. It is also known that he published the book "Unlearned Lessons: 1917-1991", which he also sells through social networks.
