Where is Volodymyr Lytvyn now: former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

Volodymyr Lytvyn, a well-known Ukrainian politician, former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and People's Deputy, has undergone significant changes in his career in recent years. In recent years, his name has often been mentioned in the context of political scandals and historical events, but now he has remained in the shadows of public life.

Volodymyr Lytvyn - what is known about him

Volodymyr Lytvyn was born in Zhytomyr region in 1956, he is now 68 years old. He has been in Ukrainian politics since the beginning of the 2000s, becoming a People's Deputy for four convocations. He also served twice as speaker of the Verkhovna Rada — from May 2002 to May 2006 and from December 2008 to December 2012. In addition, Lytvyn ran several times for the presidency of Ukraine, but was never elected.

On January 16, 2014, Volodymyr Lytvyn was among those who voted for "dictatorial laws", but later asked to consider his vote invalid. Then he supported the Resolution on the condemnation of the use of violence, which led to the death of peaceful citizens of Ukraine, and also supported the Resolution on the self-removal of the President of Ukraine from the exercise of constitutional powers.

Lytvyn is known for his scandalous statements about relations with Russia and the European Union. In September 2016, the mass media published the so-called "thoughts out loud" of Lytvyn. Then he declared that "we gain nothing from relations with the European Union, and we lose a lot from the fact that they were broken with Russia." He also said: "I think that this specific Ukrainian thing is at work here: to like those who are richer, more civilized countries."

Volodymyr Lytvyn now - what did he do during the war

In 2021, Volodymyr Lytvyn, who is also known for his scientific activities and is a professor, was a candidate for the rector elections of Kyiv National University named after T. Shevchenko. However, he did not receive the necessary support and lost this election.

Currently, his Facebook profile states that he works at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. And on his page in this social network, Volodymyr Lytvyn publishes his scientific articles and monographs. It is also known that he published the book "Unlearned Lessons: 1917-1991", which he also sells through social networks.

Judging by his publications on the social network, Volodymyr Lytvyn is often in his small homeland - Zhytomyr region. He holds meetings with teachers and students of local schools. He even brought training weapons for one of the schools for military training classes.
