Every year, on the third Thursday of May, Ukraine celebrates Embroidery Day - a holiday that has no fixed date but has a deep meaning. It is not a state and not a church holiday, but a day when Ukrainians around the world wear embroidery - as a symbol of their identity, culture and love for their native land.
Embroidery Day brings together people of all ages, status and region. On this day, Ukrainian streets, schools, offices, government agencies turn into bright canvases with age -old ornaments. Embroidery is not just clothes. It is an encrypted memory of ancestors, protection signs, amulets, and in war - also the act of resistance and pride.
In 2025, Ukrainians celebrate embroidery day against the background of war, but even more conscious. People put on embroidered shirts, arrange flash mobs, spread photos with hashtags #embroidery and #day -cut. Even sculptures in cities are dressed in embroidery - as they did in Kiev on Post Square.
Today, embroidery is a part of Ukrainian stability, a sign of infallibility of a culture that has lived and lives, despite all the threats. And every year, wearing it, every Ukrainian adds another pattern to the great history of his people.
