Denmark continues to support Ukraine in its fight by financing the production and supply of artillery systems. Danish Defense Minister Trols Lund Poulsen announced the transfer of 18 Bogdan artillery systems to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The systems were part of a deal concluded after Poulsen visited Ukraine in March 2024, when the main request was to increase weapons production.
Denmark's priorities
According to Poulsen, Denmark placed an order for the production of 18 Bogdan systems in July, and they were already transferred to Ukraine this weekend. The head of the defense ministry emphasized that weapons production in Ukraine is much cheaper than manufacturing or purchasing weapons in the West. Therefore, Denmark calls on other European countries to also invest in Ukrainian defense production.
Support for Ukrainian production
Oleksandr Kamyshin, former Minister of Strategic Industry of Ukraine, confirmed that Ukrainian defense enterprises have the ability to produce more weapons. However, this requires adequate funding. This support from Denmark and the need for additional investments are important to ensure increased production and improve Ukraine's defense capabilities.
