A forensic psychiatric examination has found Serhiy Batryn, a deputy from the Servant of the People party, guilty of detonating grenades in the Keretsk village council in Transcarpathia, which resulted in the death of two people. This was reported by journalist Vitaliy Glagola. It is noted that more than twenty people were injured during the incident.
Batryn was previously accused of preparing a terrorist act, and now his actions are being considered as a terrorist act. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment. He is currently being held in custody without bail. The incident occurred on December 15, 2023 in the village of Keretski, Khust district, during a village council meeting, where the appointment and remuneration of the head of the community for the next year were discussed. The man probably had a conflict with colleagues.
The incident injured 23 people, including the perpetrator himself. Most received shrapnel wounds. One of the victims died from his injuries on December 16 in hospital. A month after the incident, on January 15, 2024, the second deputy of the Keretsk village council, Myroslav Nytka, who was also injured in a grenade explosion, died in a hospital in Uzhhorod.
