The deputy who detonated grenades in the village council in Transcarpathia was found guilty

Forensic psychiatric examination found Serhii Batryn, a deputy from the Servant of the People party, guilty of detonating grenades in the Keretsk village council in Transcarpathia, which resulted in the death of two people. This was reported by journalist Vitaly Glagola. It is noted that during the incident more than twenty people were injured.

Previously, Batryn was accused of preparing a terrorist act, and now his actions are considered a terrorist act. If found guilty, he faces life imprisonment. He is currently being held without bail. The incident occurred on December 15, 2023, in the village of Keretsky, Khust district, during a meeting of the village council, where the issue of the appointment and terms of payment of the head of the community for the next year was discussed. The man probably had a conflict with colleagues.

As a result of the incident, 23 people were injured, including the perpetrator himself. Most received shrapnel wounds. One of the victims died of his injuries on December 16 in the hospital. A month after the event, on January 15, 2024, the second deputy of the Keretsk Village Council, Myroslav Nytka, who was also injured in a grenade explosion, died in the Uzhhorod hospital.
