Poroshenko was offered to introduce state regulation of Telegram. People's Deputy Mykola Knyazhytskyi introduces such a bill.
The document concerns not only Telegram, but also "similar media distribution platforms".
Knyazhytskyi proposes to introduce:
- a ban on the distribution of illegal materials, such as pornography, glorification of fascism, justification of Russian aggression.
- the obligation to disclose the ownership structure and sources of financing of Telegram channels at the request of the National TV Council.
- if this structure and sources are recognized as non-transparent, then the platform cannot be used by state bodies and financial structures that process personal data of Ukrainians (what is meant by this is unclear - the entire Telegram or individual "non-transparent" channels).
According to Knyazhytskyi, 72% of Ukrainians receive news from Telegram.
Previously, the Ukrainian authorities appealed to the owner of Telegram, Pavel Durov, with an appeal to "restrict the channels for the spread of Russian disinformation", but Durov ignored these requests.
