In the Sumy region, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained the deputy director of one of the local educational institutions, who was passing on data about Ukrainian military personnel to the enemy.
The attacker lived in a frontline village near the border with Russia's Kursk Oblast and openly expressed pro-Russian views. Through Telegram channels, he publicly supported the occupation of the northeastern region of Ukraine, which attracted the attention of Russian intelligence services.
After being recruited, he began collecting intelligence on the Defense Forces. The man regularly traveled to the border areas, disguising his activities as personal business. During such trips, he covertly recorded the locations of Ukrainian military bases, reserve command posts, and equipment movement routes. He transmitted the collected data to his curator in the form of coordinates and photo fixation.
Thanks to the intervention of the SBU, it was possible to prevent the transfer of relevant information about the Ukrainian military to the enemy. During the searches, the attacker's phone, computer, and digital media containing evidence of his espionage activities were seized.
The man was reported as suspicious and is currently being held without bail.
