In the Sumy region, a deputy of the regional council killed a person with a hunting weapon. This was reported by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The incident happened on June 21 at around 19:00 on the territory of the "Northern Forest" hunting farm in the village of Zareche, Konotop district.
"During the shooting of his own hunting carbine, the deputy, instead of the set target, shot at a forestry employee who was in the firing zone," the prosecutor's office reported. The gunshot wound turned out to be fatal, the 46-year-old man died on the spot.
A deputy of the Sumy Regional Council was charged with the deliberate murder of a forester (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect is currently in a detention center. He faces from 7 to 15 years in prison.
