The Ukrainian state is limited in its financial possibilities regarding compensation for housing damaged as a result of the war, the head of the "Servant of the People" party, Olena Shulyak, said in an interview with "Ukrinform". Today, the maximum amount of payments under the "yeVidnovnelnya" program is 500,000 hryvnias for owners of damaged buildings and 350,000 hryvnias for apartments.
Shulyak reported that applications for almost 8 billion hryvnias have been approved so far, which will allow more than 73 thousand Ukrainian families to receive money for repairs. At the same time, the state issued more than 11,000 certificates for the total amount of 17.2 billion hryvnias for compensation for completely destroyed housing, where the average amount of payments is about 1.6 million hryvnias.
Despite the importance of supporting the affected Ukrainians, the state faces financial constraints. In the draft budget for 2025, funds for the continuation of the program were not laid down, which caused fears about a possible pause in payments. Shulyak noted that she proposed to allocate 10 billion hryvnias for the program, while the Ministry of Reconstruction previously requested more than 40 billion.
According to Shulyak, budget discussions are ongoing, and deputies are trying to do everything possible to avoid freezing the program, even if the final amount is less than the initial request.
The program "isRecovery" is designed to help Ukrainian families who lost or seriously damaged their homes due to the war. Despite limited funding, the program is a significant support for many Ukrainians, and its continuation would be an important step towards restoring the country's housing stock.
