For the second night in a row, Russia has launched massive missile strikes on Ukraine, this time focusing on important infrastructure facilities, particularly energy facilities. Nataliya Gumenyuk, head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, announced this during the broadcast of the telethon.
"This attack is massive and combined. First, a large number of drones flew over different regions of Ukraine, and then missile strikes began," she emphasized.
According to Humenyuk, such an attack was relatively expected, but she noted that this kind of thing rarely happens.
In the course of the attack, important infrastructure facilities, in particular energy facilities, were affected. Blackouts and restrictions on the use of electricity have already been recorded.
"The enemy's tactics are changing dramatically as they look for ways to be as effective as possible for their leader and their interests. We are actively working to find effective countermeasures, while they continue to seek ways to pressure, terrorize and attack. We warned that after the farcical elections, the situation could worsen, particularly from the air. And that's what happened," Humenyuk emphasized.
At night, Russian troops carried out the largest recent attack on Ukraine's energy sector:
In Zaporizhzhia, the Russians launched 12 rocket attacks - infrastructure objects were hit, 7 buildings were destroyed, 35 were damaged, there are casualties - OVA head Ivan Fedorov.
Ukraine's largest hydroelectric power plant - DniproHEP - has also been hit, Ukrhydroenergo reports. There is currently a fire at the station. There is no threat of a breach, the situation at the dam is under control.
The ZNPP is again on the verge of blackout – due to a missile attack at 5:10 in the morning, the external overhead line of PL-750kV "Dniprovska", Energoatom, was disconnected.
Currently, at least 15 explosions are known in Kharkiv - the energy infrastructure was under attack. There are problems with electricity and water supply in the city, - Mayor of Kharkiv Terekhov.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region , energy facilities were damaged in the Dnipro, Kryvorizky, Pavlograd and Kamian districts. Windows in houses were broken by the blast wave. There are interruptions with electricity and water supply. Schedules of emergency shutdowns have been introduced - OVA.
In Vinnytsia there is also a hit to a critical infrastructure object, - head of OVA Serhii Borzov.
In the Kirovohrad region, there is damage to an economic building. Energy companies are forced to introduce a schedule of emergency power outages, - OVA.
Infrastructure facilities and residential buildings were mutilated in Khmelnytskyi There is 1 dead person and casualties among civilians, OVA.
In Odesa, due to the shelling, there are partial stabilization shutdowns by order of NEC Ukrenergo.
In Lviv Oblast, a drone hit an energy infrastructure facility in Stryi Oblast, OVA reports. Also, in the Zolochiv district, a fire started in a forest massif from the falling fragments of the "Shaheda".
In Sumy Oblast, emergency shutdown schedules have been temporarily introduced in settlements of Sumy, Konotop, and Shostky districts
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, there is a hit on a critical infrastructure object, - the head of OVA. Previously, 1 person was injured.
The attack on the Dniprovska HPP was initially reported on the network, later it was confirmed by Ukrhydroenergo. So, Russia targeted the largest hydroelectric power station in Ukraine with missiles. Unfortunately, there is a hit on the dam.
"Unfortunately, the largest HPP of Ukraine - Dnipro HPP in Zaporizhzhya - has also been hit. Inhumans did not calm down after destroying the Kakhovskaya HPP, and now they are trying to create a new environmental disaster by cynically hitting the hydroelectric facilities of the Dnipro HPP and the dam. There is currently a fire at the station. Emergency services and energy workers are working on the spot, overcoming the consequences of numerous airstrikes," says the official statement of Ukrhydroenergo.
At the same time, the report emphasized that there is no threat of a breakthrough - the situation at the Dnipro HPP is currently under control.
As Ivan Fedorov, the head of Zaporizhzhia OVA, reported, the occupiers started launching rocket attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the region around 4 am. During the telethon, Fedorov emphasized that the Russians targeted critical infrastructure that has nothing to do with the military industry and is not a military facility. One of such objects, which ensures the vital activity of the Zaporizhzhia region, is the DniproHES. Fedorov reported that traffic across the dam is currently blocked.
"Part of the critical infrastructure was damaged. Currently, rescuers and all services are working on the territory of the Dnipro HPP and all other destroyed facilities. I think that a little later we will give detailed information," Fedorov said.
He also emphasized that the main goal is to restore everything as soon as possible so that traffic through the DniproHPP can be opened.
A Russian missile hit a trolleybus with people
Petro Andryushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, said that a Russian rocket hit a trolleybus with people traveling along the Dnipro hydroelectric power station. It is known that there are victims, but their number is being clarified.
"A Russian missile hit a trolleybus moving across the dam. There were people in the trolleybus. Ordinary civilians traveling to/from work. When Russians are now proud of themselves and try to contrast their terrorism with the attacks on Belgorod, this is real terrorism," Andryushchenko emphasized.
