In Kyiv, four men brutally killed a 29-year-old foreigner in order to take possession of his bitcoins, the value of which amounted to almost 7 million hryvnias. This was reported by the capital police, which started an investigation into this case.
The incident took place in the Solomyan district, where residents heard screams and saw several unknown men beating and forcibly dragging a person to a car. This information reached the police at about midnight, after which a special police operation was immediately launched to find and apprehend the kidnappers.
The police established that four men, aged from 24 to 29, were involved in the kidnapping. They prepared the crime in advance after learning that the victim owned bitcoins. When the victim was returning home, the attackers attacked him, beat him and forcibly dragged him to the car. They took him to an abandoned building in the Kyiv region, where they forced him to transfer cryptocurrency to their wallet. After that, they strangled the man and buried the body in the forest, trying to hide the traces of the crime by changing the license plates and the appearance of the car.
Thanks to the operative actions of the police, all four criminals were arrested. Investigators are investigating this case under four articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: premeditated murder for selfish reasons, robbery, illegal deprivation of liberty committed by an organized group of persons, and concealment of a crime. All the detainees were informed of the suspicion of committing crimes, and the court took them into custody without the possibility of posting bail. They face life imprisonment.
