The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine has reported a serious deterioration in air quality in many regions of the country, caused by dusty wind flows coming from the Caspian lowland. The worst pollution is observed in Kyiv, where air pollution levels have already reached dangerous levels.
Deterioration in air quality is being recorded in many regions of Ukraine. According to satellite data, dusty wind currents from the Caspian lowland have swept across Ukraine this morning. They are worsening air quality
It is indicated that as of the morning of October 3, a high level of atmospheric air pollution is observed in the city of Kyiv. The air quality index ranges from 76 to 89.
The indicator of fine dust ranges from 95.4 μg/m3 to 127.9 μg/m3. The probable cause of the temporary deterioration of air quality is fires in the ecosystem of the Kyiv region and the transboundary impact of air masses.
According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, this situation with atmospheric air will persist until Friday, when the wind direction in Ukraine will change to southern and western. Dust will reach us in waves, meaning improvements will alternate with deteriorations in visibility and air quality.
Recommendations:
During a dust storm, you should avoid being outdoors, especially for people with breathing problems.
It is recommended to keep windows closed and use air purifiers indoors. It is also necessary to wear protective masks or respirators if you must go outside. Drivers should be especially careful due to reduced visibility on the roads.
