The Ministry of Digital Transformation is working on improving the draft law to implement an online car customs clearance system to ensure a corruption-free process. This was announced by Mstislav Banik, Head of Electronic Services Development at the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Banik indicated that the online car customs clearance service should be introduced this year, although the exact month of launch is still difficult to determine due to the volume of work on the titanic reform that they are implementing together with customs.
This electronic service is defined as an effective tool to combat corruption, which citizens often experience at customs. When using the “Dii” application, users will need to enter data about their car, such as the year of manufacture, make, model and engine capacity, as well as “certain additional criteria that are unchanged”. The system will automatically calculate the cost of customs clearance, and the money can be paid online.
Banik emphasized that this innovative approach will simplify the customs clearance process, eliminate opportunities for corruption at this stage, and automate the transfer of information to relevant government agencies. He also noted that the initiative is ready for rapid launch after the adoption of the relevant draft law by the Verkhovna Rada.
