Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine are allegedly ready to consider territorial concessions and give up control over Donbas to end the war, reported Steffen Schwarzkopf, a journalist for the German publication Die Welt, citing the words of an “extremely influential” Ukrainian parliamentarian.
"Yes, we must find a compromise, even if it is very difficult. And yes, we will have to come to terms with the loss of Donbas. This is not only my opinion, but also the point of view of many fellow deputies, as well as a significant part of the population. We are obliged to achieve a ceasefire by any means. Otherwise, the human losses may continue for many more months and years," the journalist quoted the source as saying.
According to the correspondent, the MP who shared this view did not dare to speak about it publicly. As Schwarzkopf noted, otherwise her political career "would have ended instantly" due to pressure from the Office of the President and the special services.
At the same time, there is another position in the country - to continue the fight for the return of all lost territories. Thus, the issue of compromise regarding Donbas remains a subject of heated debate among politicians and the population.
