The problem of inefficient use of budget funds in state-owned enterprises remains relevant in Ukraine. A vivid example is the situation with the airports “Donetsk”, “Mykolaiv” and “Zaporizhzhia”, which have not been operating for a long time. However, the managers of these airports continue to receive salaries.
Million-dollar salary of the director of Zaporizhia airport
Zaporizhia Airport, like all others in Ukraine, ceased operations after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the Russian occupiers have repeatedly struck the facility. Despite this, some airport employees continue to receive substantial salaries.
The acting director of the municipal enterprise “Zaporizhzhia International Airport” received a salary of over a million hryvnias last year. It should be noted that he is Oleksandr Hryhorovych Konyakhin.
1,073,437 hryvnias from the municipal enterprise "Zaporizhzhia International Airport" for 2023. This is his only declared source of income.
"The number of employees we currently have is critically minimal for obtaining the appropriate certificates that will allow us to resume the aviation activities of the enterprise. With a more drastic reduction in personnel, the utility company loses its certificate. To restore it, it will be necessary to rehire employees and train them for 1.5-2 years. That is, the work of the enterprise will be impossible," he emphasized.
As is known, the airport has been attacked at least three times since the start of the large-scale war. The first strike on it was carried out by the Russians on the very first day of the invasion, February 24, 2022.
The airport in Mykolaiv has been out of service for the third year, but the director's salary has not been affected
Mykolaiv Airport ceased operations after the start of a large-scale Russian invasion and was nearly destroyed during fighting with Russian occupiers in March 2022. Despite this, some airport employees continue to receive substantial salaries.
667,135 hryvnias in salary in 2023. 83,810 hryvnias in pension last year.
As is known, in early March 2022, fighting took place on the territory of the “Mykolaiv International Airport” between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian occupiers, who were trying to break through to the city. In the end, the Defense Forces managed to repel the enemy’s attacks and prevent him from taking positions on the territory of the airport.
However, during the fighting, the airport came under numerous shelling by Russian troops, resulting in its virtual destruction.
The airport in occupied Donetsk has not been operating for 10(!) years, but Ukraine pays the director's salary
Employees of the famous Donetsk International Airport, which the Russian occupiers have reduced to ruins over the past ten years, continue to receive a substantial salary, despite the fact that it has not been operational since 2014.
The acting director of Donetsk Airport received a salary of several hundred thousand hryvnias last year. It should be noted that he is Blyznyuk Vladislav Volodymyrovych.
According to Blyznyuk's declaration, which he filed in March 2024, last year the KP "Donetsk International Airport named after S.S. Prokofiev" brought him income in the amount of 309,161 hryvnias. This is one of his sources of income.
