From September 15 to November 1, the State Migration Service of Ukraine conducted a large-scale special operation called "Migrant" aimed at identifying violators of migration legislation. During this period, 635 illegal migrants were identified, the press service of the State Migration Service of Ukraine reported.
The operation covered the entire territory of Ukraine, excluding combat zones and temporarily occupied territories. Its goal was not only to identify illegal migrants, but also to prevent new violations in the field of migration.
According to the State Migration Service of Ukraine:
• 550 people were forced to return to their countries of origin;
• 85 violators were forcibly expelled from Ukraine;
• 63 foreigners were placed in temporary residence centers;
• 941 foreigners were banned from entering Ukraine.
The largest number of detected violators are citizens of Azerbaijan (24.4%), Moldova (15.1%), and the Russian Federation (11.8%). Also on the list are citizens of Uzbekistan (6.3%), Armenia (5%), Georgia (4.6%), and Colombia (4.3%).
Operation "Migrant" was carried out in accordance with the order of the State Border Service of Ukraine dated September 12, 2025 No. 245. Representatives of the State Border Service, the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the State Labor Service, the Ministry of Education and Science, and other executive bodies took part in it.
Thanks to the interaction between the structures, it was possible to identify large-scale schemes of violating the rules of stay in Ukraine and ensure the legal return of foreigners to their countries of origin.
The State Migration Service of Ukraine emphasizes that combating illegal migration is an ongoing task, especially in conditions of martial law, when the security of the state border and control over the movement of persons take on particular importance.
