The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported that the former deputy, Dmytro Svyatash, was sentenced to 12 years in absentia. Although the message does not mention the name of the ex-national deputy, according to the media, it is about Svyatash.
According to the indictment, Svyatash was found guilty of publicly calling for a change in the borders of the territory of Ukraine, justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, fraudulently seizing bank funds and legalizing property obtained through criminal means.
The prosecutor proved in court that during 2022, Svyatash published messages on his Facebook page that expressed doubts about armed aggression against Ukraine and called on residents of the temporarily occupied territories to cooperate with the Russian Federation.
In addition, during 2008-2014, he was the beneficiary of a group of enterprises engaged in the import and sale of cars from the Russian Federation. Using the financial crisis of 2008, he took a loan of more than 50 million dollars from the bank, but did not return almost 2.2 billion hryvnias.
The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv found Svyatash guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. "The trial took place in the absence of the accused, but with the participation of a defense attorney under a contract with the accused," added the prosecutor's office.
