Dmytro Verbytskyi no longer holds the post of Deputy Prosecutor General, as he decided to resign on his own. This decision came after the publication of an investigation by journalists about him and his partner.
Andriy Kostin, the Prosecutor General, signed the order on the release of Dmytro Verbytskyi on July 1. On the official website of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, it is noted that Verbytskyi himself expressed a desire to leave his post.
Earlier, journalists from the "Schemes" program published materials related to the property status of the former deputy general prosecutor. They discovered that Verbytskyi lives in a house in the prestigious cottage town "Konyk" in Kyiv, which was purchased by his nephew under a power of attorney from an Odesa businessman for 2 million hryvnias, which, according to market prices, was reduced by six times.
These journalists also established that Verbytskyi's partner, Khrystyna Ilnytska, owns another expensive house in the same cottage town, which she purchased for almost 2 million hryvnias, although its market value is much higher. She also recently bought a brand new Porsche for 4 million hryvnias.
In connection with these investigations, Andriy Kostin initiated an official investigation into Verbytskyi.
"I signed an order to conduct an official investigation into these facts, which is currently ongoing. The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption is also conducting an investigation into his lifestyle," Kostin said.
