Dmytro Verbytskyi remains in office despite corruption allegations

The scandal surrounding Dmytro Verbytsky, a prosecutor accused by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) of illegally enriching himself by 29 million hryvnias, once again highlights the problems in the Ukrainian law enforcement system.

He continues to work as a prosecutor under Andriy Kostin in the central office of the UCP.

A few days ago, Verbytsky was reportedly dismissed from his position as Deputy Prosecutor General in response to the high-profile facts of his illegal enrichment, which were published by journalists from Radio Liberty's "Schemes".

But in reality, Verbytsky was simply hidden. He continues to receive a rather large salary and remains a prosecutor in the cases he was handling. He also initiated criminal proceedings against the journalists who exposed his “Augean stables.”.
