In Volodymyr, Igor Halimendyk, head of the therapeutic department of the Volodymyrske TMO and a former member of the city council executive committee, is returning to work in medicine after a court verdict. The court found him guilty of accepting a bribe of $2,000 for promising to assist in determining a patient's disability, but limited itself to a fine of 85,000 hryvnias.
According to the BUG, the doctor also kept his official apartment, which caused outrage among local residents and colleagues. Law enforcement officers detained Halimendyk on July 1, 2025, after which an investigation began. The case was considered in connection with the illegal receipt of funds for administrative actions in the medical field.
Despite his criminal record, Halimendyk can now resume work at local medical facilities. Observers say the case raises questions about the accountability of medical professionals and the transparency of the system for controlling bribery in the healthcare sector.
