Doctors record sharp increase in stress disorders among Ukrainians

Chronic stress has become a daily occurrence for most Ukrainians since the start of the full-scale invasion. Constant tension, danger, and uncertainty lead not only to emotional exhaustion but also to serious health problems.

Doctors emphasize that irritability, anxiety, apathy, depressive states, sleep and eating disorders are not just bad moods, but real consequences of stress. Ignoring these symptoms can lead to a deterioration in both mental and physical condition.

Family doctor Kateryna Butok says that most of her patients now have stress disorders. The most common complaints are insomnia, headaches, memory problems, appetite changes, and more frequent hypertensive crises. According to her, the number of such cases has increased several times.

26-year-old Kyiv resident Maryna admits that her life has stopped in “waiting mode.” She reacts sharply to loud sounds and explosions, and during times of anxiety she often finds refuge in sedatives and the support of her pet Barney.

Doctors urge: if you feel constant tension, anxiety, or irritability, you should contact your family doctor. All of them have completed special courses in psychological assistance and can become the first line of support.

In addition to professional help, doctors advise taking care of a balanced diet, regular sleep, and physical activity. These simple steps are a "first aid" in the fight against stress.
