A gynecologist named the optimal age for giving birth. According to her, the best time for childbirth is up to 35 years old, when the female body has not yet accumulated so-called "genetic damage", and the risks to the health of the mother and child are minimal.
The doctor also noted that the ideal interval between births is about two years. During this time, a woman's body has time to fully recover from the previous pregnancy.
After 40, the doctor emphasizes, pregnancy is already associated with significant risks: the likelihood of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus increases, as well as complications for the mother herself. This point of view is shared by scientists who study the incidence of breast cancer - in particular, they found an increased risk among women who give birth to their first child after 40.
The example of the United Kingdom, which leads Europe in the frequency of this type of oncology, according to doctors, may be related to the trend towards later childbirth. In addition, there is evidence that children of older mothers are more likely to suffer from diabetes.
At the same time, giving birth too early can be dangerous. According to research by Swiss scientists, girls who become mothers before the age of 20 have an increased risk of developing cardiovascular and oncological diseases. Experts advise not to rush and wait until at least 22 years of age to give birth.
According to Eurostat, the average age of first birth varies widely across Europe. The youngest mothers are women in Bulgaria (average 25.7 years), Romania (25.8 years), Latvia and Estonia. The oldest are women in Italy (30.6 years), Spain (30.4 years) and Luxembourg.
Thus, despite social and economic factors, doctors are unanimous in their conclusion: the optimal age for having a child is up to 35 years, and between births it is worth observing a break of at least two years for full recovery of health.
