Every year, Ukraine changes its clocks, which affects the daily rhythm of life of millions of people. In 2025, the country will switch to daylight saving time on the night of March 29-30, when 3:00 a.m. will be changed to 4:00 a.m. This decision was made in accordance with a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which has been in effect since 1996.
The aim of the time change is to optimize the use of daylight and reduce electricity consumption in the autumn-winter period. Despite debates about the appropriateness of this practice, the changes remain in force for now.
Most modern electronic devices, such as smartphones, computers, and smartwatches, update the time automatically. However, mechanical watches, alarm clocks, and some household appliances require manual adjustment.
To avoid forgetting the time change, follow these simple tips:
Set a reminder on your phone or calendar.
Check all devices that do not update the time automatically.
Adjust your sleep schedule in advance to avoid stress due to the change in schedule.
Follow the news, as the media usually reminds you about the time change.
Discussions about abolishing seasonal time changes have been ongoing for several years. In 2024, the Verkhovna Rada passed a corresponding bill, but President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not sign it due to possible economic consequences. Therefore, for now, Ukraine will continue to switch between summer and winter time.
Be prepared for the changes and don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour on the night of March 30th!
