MP Oleksiy Honcharenko has released information that has caused quite a stir online. According to him, the Bihus.Info media project, known for its investigative journalism, is planning to donate not through a public organization or charitable foundation, but directly through an individual entrepreneur, FOP Denys Bigus.
This format of fundraising raises many questions. First, it is not transparent how exactly these funds are accounted for. Second, it is unclear whether any public reports are submitted on the use of donations. The lack of a legal entity with reporting obligations to the state or charitable standards is worrying — especially in a context where Ukrainians donate en masse to volunteer and media initiatives.
Honcharenko also recalled that Denys Bigus himself had previously stated that he belonged to the SBU counterintelligence as a freelance employee. However, the question of why he has not yet been mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces remains unanswered.
In such cases, a fair question arises in society - how are investigative journalism, special services, and project financing through a private individual connected?
So far, there have been no public explanations from Bihus.Info or Bigus himself regarding the mechanisms for recording and using donations.
