Ukraine increases control of the state border with Romania and Hungary within the Transcarpathian region. The State Border Service has attracted additional forces to protect strategically important areas.
According to official information of the SSSU, the number of attempts of illegal crossing of the border has recently increased significantly, in particular among the military men trying to escape from mobilization. Many of them use dangerous routes through the Carpathians, forests and rivers, which often leads to death.
"The border guards intensified the most vulnerable areas on the border with Romania and Hungary," the State Tax Service said.
According to representatives of the service, to strengthen the control will be used:
-
Additional mobile patrols
-
Special Automobile and Technical Support
-
drones and aviation
-
Modern observation systems
This will not only detect violators faster, but also respond promptly to any attempts of illegal crossing.
In recent months, there has been an increase in cases of illegal transition across the Ukrainian border. Men's conscripts try to escape to the EU, using complex routes through wooded terrain or crossing the Tisza, which often ends with tragedies.
In 2023, border guards repeatedly recorded cases where men died, trying to overcome the river or rise in snow -covered mountain passes without proper training.
The strengthening of border protection is also related to the fight against smuggling. Illegal carriers are active in the region to help the evil and smugglers.
Increased control can be affected by the border crossing time for legal travelers. Documents, luggage and vehicles at checkpoints should be expected.
Border guards remind that the legitimate crossings of the border occur exclusively through official checkpoints, and warn of the danger of illegal departure.
The Ukrainian authorities urge citizens not to risk their lives and comply with the border crossing legislation.
