DTEK early terminated the contract with the state-owned enterprise Energoatom after statements about the possible withdrawal of approximately UAH 2 billion from the company due to electricity price schemes.
According to Andriy Gerus, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, the conflict arose after the auction on January 14, at which Energoatom sold significant volumes of electricity at old, lower prices, on the eve of their increase. Such actions, according to experts, could have led to additional losses for the state-owned enterprise and excess profits for certain traders.
DTEK noted in its appeal that further cooperation under the current contract becomes impossible due to the unpredictability of market conditions and possible financial risks arising from changes in Energoatom's pricing policy.
Experts believe that early termination of the contract could affect the stability of electricity supply and the wholesale market, as well as increase tensions between public and private players in the energy sector.
