Road accident with five victims: suspect will remain behind bars

The preventive measure for a driver suspected of causing an accident that killed five people in Khmelnytskyi district has been revised, the regional prosecutor's office reported.

The accident occurred late in the evening of August 9 near the village of Yuzino. The cars "Denza N7" and "MG 350" collided. The accident killed the driver and four passengers of the "MG 350". All of them died on the spot due to severe injuries.

Initially, the investigating judge chose to keep the suspect in custody with the possibility of bail. However, prosecutors appealed this ruling.

The appeals court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and canceled the possibility of posting bail. The suspect will now remain in custody with no alternative options.

The driver faces up to ten years in prison with a driving ban of up to three years.
