On Monday, February 26, the National Police detained the director of one of Ukrnafta's departments on suspicion of corruption. This information was disseminated by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Kyiv City Police.
The press service of Ukrnafta confirmed the fact of the detention and stated that the company is resolutely fighting any manifestations of corruption.
According to the investigation, the detainee, who already held a high position in the company in 2018, offered an acquaintance the opportunity to use a certain plot of land belonging to Ukrnafta. Under the condition, she was to pay him a significant amount of money personally every year.
In 2022, the woman failed to meet these conditions due to crop problems. After that, the detainee apparently began to pressure her, trying to extort money and threatening to take the land.
In December 2023, the woman requested to conclude an official contract for land use. However, the detainee demanded double the amount for the previous period and promised to help conclude contracts only after payment.
While transferring the second part of the money, the manager was detained in the center of Kyiv near the Southern Railway Station. He was charged under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine related to abuse of influence.
