On Monday, February 26, the National Police detained the director of one of the departments of Ukrnafta on suspicion of corruption. This information was disseminated by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office and the police of the city of Kyiv.
The press service of Ukrnafta confirmed the fact of the detention and stated that the company resolutely fights against any manifestations of corruption.
According to the investigation, the detainee, who already had a high position in the company in 2018, offered an acquaintance the opportunity to use a certain plot of land that belonged to Ukrnafta. Under the condition, she had to pay him a considerable amount of money personally every year.
In 2022, the woman did not have time to fulfill these conditions due to problems with the harvest. After that, the detainee seemed to start putting pressure on her, trying to demand money and threatening to take away the land.
In December 2023, the woman asked to conclude an official contract for the use of the land. However, the detainee demanded double the amount already for the previous period and promised to help conclude contracts only after payment.
During the transfer of the second part of the amount of money, the manager was detained in the center of Kyiv near the South Railway Station. He was charged under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which deals with abuse of influence.
