The Ukrainian government intends to continue the practice of economic reservation from mobilization, although the exact timing of the implementation of this plan remains uncertain. As reported by RBC-Ukraine, the decision may be made in late 2024 or early 2025, depending on the situation on the front and the pace of mobilization.
Economy bookings in Ukraine are still planned to be continued, but a little later — perhaps at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025, because mobilization is currently underway. RBC-Ukraine writes about this, citing its own informed sources.
According to sources, the authorities have not abandoned the idea of "economic armor," and the timing of returning to this issue will depend on the pace of mobilization and the situation at the front.
“Back in the summer, the concept of “fight or work” was announced, both the president and the head of government said this. Nothing has changed since then, that is, there is a political decision. But now the focus of attention is mobilization, since the enemy is pressing at the front. How do you imagine telling mobilized people now that a decision has been made on reservation, where the criterion is salaries or paid taxes?” said one of the publication’s interlocutors.
Journalists clarified that one of the options for "economic armor" could be its monthly extension if the appropriate level of taxes is paid. This refers to personal income tax.
Sources also told RBC-Ukraine that economic reservation can be implemented both through the adoption of a law in the Verkhovna Rada and through a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The authors of the material emphasized that the authorities are currently inclined to believe that this norm should still be passed through the parliamentary chamber.
"There are legislative initiatives, they are registered in parliament, but there has not yet been a vote, even in the first reading. Although, of course, in unofficial communication, people's deputies are discussing the advisability of adopting a law that would allow economic reservation," the material says.
