The Hungarian court overturned the decision of the immigration service on the deportation of the former Ukrainian diplomat S. Alexandrov to Ukraine. This was reported on June 23 by Blikk .
Alexandrov, who worked in the Embassy of Ukraine in Budapest in 2010, appealed the decision on deportation, indicating that he wants to leave Hungary not to his homeland but to Russia. His lawyer Gabor Syuch stated that Alexandrov has Russian citizenship because he was born in occupied Crimea. At the same time, in November 2024, in Hungary, in November 2024, he pointed out to Ukraine as a country of origin. According to the defender, in the form it was not possible to indicate the presence of dual citizenship.
The court decided that deportation to Ukraine was illegal and recognized the right to go to Russia on Alexandrov. Thus, he was allowed to return to Hungary, although a new proceeding has now been opened against him for violation of migration legislation.
This story took place against the background of tense Ukrainian-Hungarian relations. Earlier, on May 9, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto accused two Ukrainian diplomats of espionage and declared their detention. Later, two more citizens of Ukraine - the deputy of the Transcarpathian regional council of Roland Tseber and Istana Hollo - were charged with espionage.
