The ex-director of the Baraniv branch of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" Yury Yurchuk became the object of investigation after it became known about his use of official powers to create his own business empire. Using state resources, Yurchuk not only appropriated a significant part of forest resources, but also organized their processing for the family business. All this happened against the background of low rental rates and dubious deals, which brought him huge profits at the expense of the state.
In its publication, the "Whistleblower" channel cites specific examples of how Yurchuk violated ethical and legal norms. One of the most outrageous moments was the use of forestry for personal enrichment. According to sources, Yurchuk leased 16,000 hectares of forest for pennies to Forest Polissya LLC, which is managed by his family's accountant, Rusalovska.
But these are not all machinations of the ex-director. According to journalists, Yurchuk even handed over a wood processing complex worth 50 million hryvnias for a symbolic rent of 54 hryvnias per month. In his family empire, there are not only forest resources, but also important industrial equipment, transport and even a driver, who was registered as a FOP.
It is emphasized that such actions were not limited only to the ex-director of the Baraniv branch. In addition, journalistic investigations have repeatedly mentioned other cases of massive deforestation, land grabbing, and undeclared assets related to the activities of the general director of "Forests of Ukraine" Yury Bolokhovets. Recently, this situation has attracted the attention of the State Bureau of Investigation, because an investigation is being conducted into the self-grabbing of a plot of land in the Chernihiv region.
The activities of such persons as Yuriy Yurchuk not only call into question the efficiency of state administration, but also undermine citizens' trust in government institutions that are supposed to protect national resources.
