Former acting the director of the Department of Public Procurement of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was informed of suspicions in connection with financial violations that caused losses of more than 1.1 billion hryvnias. The suspicion is related to careless attitude to official duties and illegal inclusion of VAT in the cost of purchased fuel.

The employees of the SDB in cooperation with the Department of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the suspicion of negligent treatment of one of the former heads of the Department of State Procurement and Supply of Material Resources of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine
According to law enforcement officers, after the beginning of the Russian aggression, a former high-ranking official of the Ministry of Defense purchased fuel and lubricants for the needs of the troops, illegally including value added tax in the payment. Thus, the amount of losses amounted to almost UAH 1.2 billion.
Currently, he has been remanded in custody.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the State Security Service of Ukraine.
The Prosecutor General's Office recalled that this exposador of the Ministry of Defense is already suspected of embezzling more than UAH 1.7 billion of budget funds and obstructing the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces - the purchase of low-quality body armor at inflated prices (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, in criminal proceedings, the requirements of Art. 290 of the CPC of Ukraine.
In addition, VAKS conducts a judicial review of criminal proceedings on the charge of the expositor of embezzlement of public funds and obstruction of the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the purchase of low-quality body armor, uniforms and other ammunition for a total amount of almost UAH 1.3 billion.
At the beginning of February 2023, the former deputy minister of defense was informed of the suspicion of obstructing the legal activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations. At that time, he lobbied for the conclusion of contracts for the supply of low-quality ammunition for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the total amount of over UAH 1 billion.
The former head of the Department of State Procurement and Supply of Material Resources of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, was also informed of the suspicion.
