The body of Dmytro Shevchyk, a former candidate for mayor of Kryvyi Rih and former general director of the Central Mining and Processing Plant, was found in the village of Kudashivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The information was confirmed by the Svoi publication.
One of the main versions of Shevchyk's death is suicide. According to preliminary data, he may have shot himself with a Saiga hunting rifle. At the time of the tragedy, Shevchyk was survived by his wife and three sons.
Police are investigating the scene, but details of the incident remain unknown at this time.
Dmytro Shevchyk ran for mayor of Kryvyi Rih in 2020 as part of the Servant of the People party. He was defeated in the election, coming in third place, to Kostyantyn Pavlov of the OPZh, who later became mayor. Shevchyk received 26% of the vote, while Pavlov received 56.97% of the vote.
Interestingly, Konstantin Pavlov also died tragically, according to the police, by shooting himself. His death caused a public outcry, because two months after his death, his brother was found dead, who, according to law enforcement, had poisoned himself. A month later, his cousin hanged himself.
