The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has granted the Ministry of Justice's claim to confiscate the property of former Education Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk, who was convicted of high treason. The state has received elite real estate, banking assets, and valuable inherited properties.
As part of the decision, the following were transferred to state ownership:
-
Half of an apartment with an area of 126.5 sq. m in the very center of Kyiv (28 Yaroslaviv Val St.);
-
Estate with an area of 672 sq. m in Kozyn on the banks of the Dnieper River;
-
Five plots of land in the village of Kozyn near Kyiv;
-
$144 thousand in a bank account;
-
The right to compensation in the amount of UAH 40.6 million;
-
Right of claim against the bank for UAH 191 thousand.
According to the case materials, part of this property was registered in the name of Tabachnyk's mother, Alla Tabachnyk, and part of it directly belonged to Dmytro Tabachnyk himself or was connected to him through an inheritance after his father's death.
The grounds for confiscation were the assets' connections with a person convicted of high treason, as well as attempts to avoid liability by transferring property to close relatives. The key object that attracted the attention of the investigation was an apartment in Kyiv, registered in Tabachnyk's name, but actually used by Dmytro himself. This allowed the court to recognize it as a related asset and transfer it to the state.
Recall that in 2023, Dmytro Tabachnyk was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison for high treason, aiding an aggressor state, and violating the laws and customs of war. The Court of Appeals upheld the sentence.
His activities after 2014 attracted special attention from law enforcement agencies, as the former minister actively cooperated with the occupation authorities and promoted pro-Russian narratives, even while outside Ukraine.
