The Ukrainian law enforcement system is again in the spotlight due to the investigation into the voluntary abandonment of a part of the ex-Nardeput Yehor Sobolev.
According to information received from sources in the Prosecutor General's Office, he became the object of criminal proceedings.
In the case of criminal proceedings, it is claimed that Sobolev, who since May 2022 was listed as a machine gunner of the 251st battalion of ground defense, instead of performing combat tasks, "was spending his time at his discretion and engaged in personal affairs."
This happened, according to the SBI, with the assistance of the then battalion commander Serhiy Kasprov.
At the same time, the former deputy of the People's Republic received monetary support, in particular "combat" over 100,000 hryvnias per month.
Sobolev was listed in the battalion until the beginning of 2023. Now, according to official data, he is serving as a UAV company commander in the A4124 military unit (112th ground defense brigade).
In January, he announced that he had received the rank of lieutenant of the Armed Forces ahead of time.
