Roman Balykin, former Defense Advisor Alexei Reznikov, was released in the case of multimillion -dollar abuse during military procurement for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Pechersk District Court significantly reduced the pledge for Balikin - from UAH 136 million to less than 10 million.
Earlier, law enforcement officers reported that the purchase of more than a million sets of form for the army totaling $ 35 million. According to the results of expertise and financial analyzes, the real cost was $ 25.6 million. The rest - almost $ 10 million - settled in offshore accounts.
The scheme was multilevel. The form was purchased through an American company that belongs to the daughter of an international scammer Solomon Philip. The Turkish manufacturer was used as a "gasket", which artificially overstated prices almost one and a half times. Of the $ 20 million prepayments listed by the Ministry of Defense, only about half reached the manufacturer.
The investigation considers Roman Balikin a key coordinator of this scheme. According to investigators, he promised to influence the tender and had to receive $ 2.5 million rollbacks. However, according to Balikin himself, he was a victim of fraud.
After being released from the pre -trial detention center, Balykin actively tries to "bleach" his image in the media. According to sources, he cooperates with telegrams that are engaged in information blackmail and placement of custom materials designed to reduce public resonance around the case.
