As of early May 2025, Kyiv residents' debt for consumed electricity reached a record 1.2 billion hryvnias. This is over 220 million more than in the same period last year. This was reported by the energy company YASNO.
Despite the growing debts, the company is not currently planning mass power outages for non-payers. Instead, it promises to step up its information campaign to remind consumers of the need to make payments.
In particular, YASNO actively informs debtors through electronic invoices, paper payments with the amount of debt indicated, SMS and Viber messages, as well as automated voice calls (IVR). In the absence of a response to the warning, a written message is sent via Ukrposhta.
The company emphasizes: if the debtor does not repay the debt within 10 days after receiving a written warning, the electricity supply will be suspended.
Despite the difficult economic situation, YASNO urges Kyiv residents not to accumulate debts so as not to be left without electricity at a critical moment. At the same time, the company emphasizes that for now it is counting on the good faith of its customers and does not plan harsh sanctions.
