The last Grand Slam tournament of this year, the US Open, continues to impress with bright performances by Ukrainian tennis players. In the second round of the competition, a Ukrainian derby took place, in which Elina Svitolina confidently defeated her compatriot Angelina Kalinin with a score of 6:1, 6:2.
This victory opened the way for Svitolina to the third round of the tournament, where she will face a serious test - a duel with the current US Open champion, American Coco Gauff. Despite the difficulty of her next opponent, Svitolina is showing excellent form and is aiming to continue her winning streak at the prestigious tournament.
Marta Kostyuk, another Ukrainian tennis player, also successfully made it to the second round, defeating Britain's Harriet Dart. The first set was very tense, ending in a tiebreak with a score of 7:6(10) in favor of Kostyuk. In the second set, Marta significantly strengthened her game, winning it with a convincing score of 6:1.
In the third round, Marta Kostyuk will face American Emma Navarro, which promises to be another interesting confrontation.
